Nativity 2016

Children from Reception and Year 1 performed a magnificent and memorable production of the Nativity story before a packed audience in the College Theatre. The children were outstanding and rounded off the event with a rousing chorus of 'We wish you a Merry Christmas'. Many thanks to the Primary team and parents for preparing the children so well. A great way to prepare for Christmas.

RHASt Richard Reynolds Catholic Collage performed seven tremendous vocal pieces at the Royal Albert Hall on 27th November 2016, along with many other incredible choirs (aged 6-25) - each student should be proud of their accomplishment. We wish to thank all who participated because, every pupil sung beautifully and represented SRRCC with impeccable manners. I, as a young pupil, desire to especially thank all the teachers who were able give an opportunity as grand as this to us.

I’m certainly not alone when I say that it was a phenomenal experience, and I hope next year that all are able to admire the music and location once given the invitation to perform. Others have described the trip to be ‘beautifully decorated’, ‘a wonderful trip’ however, the day was tiring because of all the effort given. Therefore, as the day drew to an end we were all miserable to leave because it had finished, yet relieved that all our hard work had paid off.

The music was enchanting and the Albert Hall was beautiful. I wouldn’t dared to have missed it.

We would like to thank our primary parents for all their help in creating a fantastic new play area for our primary school pupils. The pupils (and teachers) are very excited about their new space, which was created by the same group of volunteers that worked on the primary "quiet space" in the summer.

Our chair of Governors, Andrew Cole KSG, completed his Camino pilgrimage from Tui on the Portuguese border to the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. He enbarked on his Camino to help raise money towards completing a sports hall at the College and to raise awareness of the campaign. Mr Cole commented: "It was one of the best eperiences of my life. I met lots of very interesting people on the way who were walking for many different reasons. Some of the days were long and hard but the camaraderie of fellow pilgrims and the 'buen Caminos' from local people sustained me and my walking partner, John Slade, over the 145 kilometers we covered over six days. I prayed for our College community at every stopover and during a wonderful pilgrim's Mass at Santiago de Compostela at the end of the pligrimage. Lots of people asked about St Richard Reynolds and some even donated to the appeal. I can't thank people enough for the many messages of support and encouragment and for all the gernous donations. With Gift Aid, £26,300 has been raised so far and I hope people will go the extra yard to help exceed the target of £25,000 towards the cost of the sports hall".

NewbyOver 250 parents and pupils attended a votive Mass of the Feast of St Richard Reynolds in the College grounds. The Mass was celebrated by foundation governor, Canon Peter Newby, and the Schola Canotrem enhanced a wonderful occasion by singing parts of the Mass. Parent governor, Eddie Doyle, gave a moving address about hois experiences of the College and the need for everyone to help to meet the cost of the buildings currently under construction. The evening concluded with a tasty hog roast. Thanks for all who worked so hard to make the evening a success and to everyone for attending.
